Wayne, Pa. (May 19, 2020) – McBee is proud to partner with BrightSpring Health Services (“BrightSpring”), a leading provider of complementary pharmacy and home and community-based services, as a strategic advisor in the successful acquisition of Advanced Home Care’s (“AHC”) home health and specialty infusion businesses.
Upon the successful completion of the acquisition on March 1, 2020, AHC’s home health team joined BrightSpring’s Adoration Home Health and Hospice business and is now operating as Advanced Home Health. The infusion and specialty pharmacy teams joined PharMerica’s Amerita division and is now operating under the name Advanced Home Infusion.
“This acquisition is a testament to just how responsive BrightSpring is in meeting increasing needs for care delivery in the post-acute space. Their integrated health services will provide immense benefits to the communities they serve,” said Mike Dordick, President of McBee.
BrightSpring engaged McBee to prepare an analysis of the impact of the Patient Driven Grouping Model (PDGM) for AHC. Based on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (“CMS”) update for CY2020, McBee recasted AHC on historical Medicare revenues from 2017 and 2018 based on traditional Medicare claims data to understand how reimbursement would be impacted under the new model.
“The insight that McBee provided into the impacts that PDGM would have on AHC allowed us to be proactive in determining how to position them for success post-acquisition,” said Chris Consalus, Senior Vice President of Development, BrightSpring. “The level of detail surrounding admission source, clinical groupings, and competitive analysis was extremely helpful in informing our team.”
In addition, McBee conducted reviews of home health clinical charts and home infusions claims. These reviews provided BrightSpring/PharMerica with an independent evaluation of the AHC’s compliance with Medicare home health requirements and home infusion pharmacy billing based on the documentation contained in charts randomly selected by McBee.
“Through their detailed analysis, McBee provided a holistic view of AHC’s compliance by evaluating requirements for billing as well as ensuring that we fully understood PDGM’s future impact to the home health business,” said Consalus. “McBee continues to prove their steadfast dedication to our success.”
In 2019, McBee partnered on the merge of BrightSpring and PharMerica, which made them a leading provider of home health, community-based health and pharmacy services for high-need and medically complex populations. McBee also provided strategic advisory services when Home Health Care of East Tennessee integrated into Adoration Health under BrightSpring’s home health care division.
