Winter Webinar Series Breakdown

Webinar 1: Understanding CMGs and the IRF PPS | Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026 | 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET

In this live webinar, one of the UDSMR, part of McBee, inpatient rehabilitation clinical experts will take a fresh approach to breaking down the crucial role CMGs play in the IRF PPS, starting with an overview of the IGC classification that serves as the first step in CMG assignment. We’ll explore the admission motor score, examine tiered comorbid condition coding and learn how these steps culminate in accurate CMG assignment for reimbursement for patients with Medicare fee-for-service plans. Real-world scenarios will explain how you can improve your accuracy at each step of the process and will help you understand how case-specific factors can affect reimbursement and length of stay for Medicare IRF cases.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define the three components that make up a CMG.
  • Accurately match an impairment group code (IGC) to the rehab impairment category (RIC) used for CMG assignment.
  • Demonstrate their understanding of the RIC exclusion criteria for tiered comorbid conditions.
  • Accurately determine the unadjusted federal prospective payment (FPP) and average length of stay for a given CMG.
  • Define a transfer policy case that will result in adjusted reimbursement to a facility.

Webinar 2: Accurately Coding the Section GG (Self-Care Items) and Section H (Bladder and Bowel Continence) | Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026 | 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET

This live webinar focuses on the Prior Functioning and Prior Device Use and quality indicators in sections GG and H on the IRF-PAI. One of our UDSMR, part of McBee, inpatient rehabilitation clinical experts will review the definition and coding instructions for the quality indicator items in these sections and examine realistic scenarios designed to help attendees code quality indicator items more accurately as part of their day-to-day practices. Participants will be provided with process examples, trends to look for, and documentation practices observed during UDSMR’s chart audits.

Learning outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to identify which admission items in section GG and section H contribute to a case-mix group (CMG).
  • Participants will be able to recall the assessment period for collecting quality indicator data for the IRF-PAI.
  • Participants will be able to identify the purpose of the IRF-PAI’s various quality indicator sections on the IRF-PAI.
  • Participants will demonstrate their coding accuracy, using CMS definitions and coding tips for quality indicator items.

Webinar 3: Accurately Coding the Section GG Mobility Items | Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026 | 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET

This live webinar focuses on the quality indicators for the mobility items in section GG on the IRF-PAI. One of the UDSMR, part of McBee, inpatient rehabilitation clinical experts will review the definition and coding instructions for the quality indicator items in this section and examine realistic scenarios designed to help attendees code quality indicator items more accurately as part of their day-to-day practices. Participants will be provided with process examples, trends to look for and documentation practices observed during UDSMR’s chart audits.

Learning outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to identify which admission mobility items in section GG contribute to a case-mix group (CMG).
  • Participants will be able to recall the assessment period for collecting quality indicator data for the IRF-PAI.
  • Participants will be able to identify the purpose of the quality indicators in section GG on the IRF-PAI.
  • Participants will demonstrate their coding accuracy, using CMS definitions and coding tips for quality indicator items.

Webinar 4: Discharge Functional Outcomes Made Simple: Track, Interpret, and Optimize Outcomes | Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2026 | 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. ET

UDSmr’s analytical and clinical experts will present live and focus on the importance of discharge functional coding on discharge outcome measures, from the IRF QRP to UDSmr PEM v3 percentile rankings. Gain deeper insight into functional quality measures and CMS’s risk-adjusted expected values to strengthen your facility’s results. Walk away with practical strategies to interpret your data, compare performance to national benchmarks, and identify opportunities to optimize your IRF facility’s outcomes.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Determine how the patient’s risk-adjusted expected score is calculated, including the shift from walk to wheelchair scoring based on Section GG coding at discharge.
  • Identify the functional assessment items used for discharge self-care, discharge mobility, and discharge function score, and recognize the reports available to track these measures.
  • Explain the purpose of the attainment scores used in the UDSmr PEM v3 report and identify key metrics to monitor to improve attainment outcomes.

The event is finished.
